Artificial Intelligence and Synthetic Media Policy

Effective date: August 12, 2026

Last updated: August 12, 2026

1. Purpose

American Fashion TV (“AFTV,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) covers fashion in the evolving era of digital media, technology, and artificial intelligence.

This Artificial Intelligence and Synthetic Media Policy (“AI Policy”) explains generally how AFTV may use artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, and synthetic-media technologies in its editorial, creative, analytical, commercial, and administrative activities.

AFTV seeks to use these technologies in ways that support creativity, efficiency, accessibility, and editorial innovation while managing risks involving accuracy, deception, intellectual property, privacy, bias, and human identity.

This AI Policy is intended as a general statement of current principles. It is not a contractual commitment, guarantee, warranty, or representation that a particular process will always be used in every circumstance. It does not create rights or remedies beyond those provided by applicable law.

Our practices may vary according to the technology, content, context, available information, operational needs, and level of reasonably foreseeable risk.

2. Scope

This AI Policy applies to AFTV-controlled activities involving artificial intelligence or automated technology, including:

  • Articles and editorial research;

  • Interviews and transcripts;

  • Images, illustrations, graphics, and carousels;

  • Video, animation, audio, and music;

  • Captions, translation, and dubbing;

  • Virtual models, digital humans, and synthetic voices;

  • Website search and content recommendations;

  • Audience, advertising, and performance analytics;

  • Marketing and social media production;

  • Forms, communications, and customer-relationship management;

  • Content moderation and security;

  • Administrative and operational workflows; and

  • Other uses developed or adopted in the future.

The policy applies regardless of which vendor, platform, model, application, or technical method is used.

Third-party advertisements, embedded content, social-media platforms, and external websites may use AI under their own policies. AFTV does not control the internal technologies or practices of independent third parties.

3. Meaning of artificial intelligence

For purposes of this policy, “AI” is used broadly. It includes technologies that generate, classify, recommend, predict, summarize, recognize, modify, translate, automate, or otherwise process information or media.

This may include:

  • Generative AI;

  • Machine-learning systems;

  • Large language or multimodal models;

  • Recommendation and ranking systems;

  • Automated transcription and translation;

  • Image, video, voice, and music generators;

  • Synthetic-media and digital-replica technologies;

  • Automated editing, enhancement, and restoration;

  • Pattern-recognition and moderation tools;

  • Predictive or analytical systems; and

  • Technologies marketed under another name that perform substantially similar functions.

“Synthetic media” includes text, images, video, audio, voices, people, objects, places, or events that have been materially generated, simulated, or altered using AI or comparable digital technology.

4. General principles

AFTV may consider the following principles when selecting and using AI:

Editorial responsibility

AFTV remains responsible for the editorial content it chooses to publish. AI tools are not treated as independent authors, editors, witnesses, experts, or authoritative sources.

Proportional oversight

The level of review may depend on the nature, purpose, and reasonably foreseeable risk of the use. A minor formatting function does not necessarily require the same review as a factual article, realistic synthetic person, health-related claim, or depiction of a news event.

Transparency where material

AFTV may disclose material uses of AI when disclosure is required by law or when omission could reasonably cause audiences to misunderstand the origin, authenticity, meaning, or evidentiary value of content.

Accuracy and context

AI-generated output may be incomplete, inaccurate, fabricated, outdated, biased, or misleading. AFTV may review and verify output according to the context and level of risk before publication.

Rights and permissions

AFTV seeks to use AI in a manner consistent with applicable intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, contractual, and other rights.

Innovation

AFTV may experiment with emerging technologies and formats. The fact that AFTV tests or discusses a technology does not constitute an endorsement, certification, or guarantee concerning that technology.

5. How AFTV may use AI

AFTV may use AI or automation for purposes including:

  • Brainstorming and concept development;

  • Identifying possible story angles;

  • Organizing notes and research;

  • Generating questions or outlines;

  • Summarizing source material for internal review;

  • Transcribing interviews and recordings;

  • Translating or localizing text, audio, and video;

  • Generating or correcting captions;

  • Copyediting, proofreading, and style assistance;

  • Headline, excerpt, metadata, and social-copy development;

  • Search-engine and content-discovery support;

  • Image ideation, generation, editing, restoration, or expansion;

  • Background creation or replacement;

  • Video editing, reframing, cleanup, effects, or animation;

  • Audio enhancement, noise removal, music, or voice processing;

  • Creating virtual models, environments, garments, products, or concepts;

  • Developing explainers, mockups, storyboards, and visualizations;

  • Content tagging, classification, search, and recommendation;

  • Detecting spam, abuse, fraud, security threats, or technical problems;

  • Audience measurement and performance analysis;

  • Marketing, advertising, and campaign development;

  • Reviewing, sorting, or routing forms and inquiries;

  • Administrative communications and internal productivity; and

  • Other lawful editorial, creative, analytical, or operational purposes.

The inclusion of a possible use in this section does not mean AFTV currently uses it or promises to use it in a particular manner.

6. Editorial articles and reporting

AI may assist with editorial work, but it should not be treated as the sole factual authority for a published claim.

For factual reporting and matters of public interest, AFTV may use human editorial review, source checking, or other verification proportionate to the nature and significance of the content.

Writers and editors remain responsible for evaluating:

  • Factual claims;

  • Names, titles, quotations, and dates;

  • Source quality;

  • Context and material omissions;

  • Claims about real people, brands, products, or events;

  • Legal, medical, financial, or safety implications; and

  • Whether AI involvement warrants disclosure.

A human byline identifies the person accepting editorial responsibility for the published work. An AI system will not receive a human byline.

AFTV may publish AI-assisted text without a separate label when AI is used as a routine support tool and a person has meaningfully reviewed, edited, and accepted editorial responsibility for the final work, unless disclosure is required by law or necessary to avoid misleading readers.

AFTV may provide a more specific disclosure when an article or substantial portion of an article is generated or transformed by AI with limited human authorship or review.

7. Images, illustrations, and fashion concepts

AFTV may publish AI-generated or AI-assisted images for:

  • Editorial illustration;

  • Conceptual fashion imagery;

  • Mood boards and creative direction;

  • Imagined garments or collections;

  • Digital fashion;

  • Virtual environments;

  • Historical or future-facing visualization;

  • Artistic or experimental work;

  • Satire or commentary;

  • Marketing and promotional creative; and

  • Other lawful purposes.

AI-generated imagery is not necessarily evidence that a depicted garment, campaign, model, collection, place, endorsement, or event exists in the physical world.

When an image is materially synthetic and could reasonably be mistaken for authentic documentary photography, AFTV may label it with language such as:

  • “AI-generated image”;

  • “AI-assisted illustration”;

  • “Digital rendering”;

  • “Synthetic image”;

  • “Artist’s concept”; or

  • Another description appropriate to the context.

AFTV does not generally promise to label routine production changes that do not materially alter the meaning or authenticity of content. These may include resizing, cropping, exposure correction, color correction, denoising, sharpening, background cleanup, object removal, retouching, format conversion, captioning, or similar editorial adjustments.

However, AFTV may provide disclosure when the cumulative effect of such changes could materially mislead the audience or when disclosure is required by law.

8. Video, audio, voices, and digital replicas

AFTV may use AI to create, translate, edit, clean, enhance, animate, dub, or otherwise transform video and audio.

Uses may include:

  • Automated captions;

  • Transcription;

  • Translation and dubbing;

  • Noise reduction and audio repair;

  • Voice enhancement;

  • Eye-contact or framing correction;

  • Animation;

  • Lip synchronization;

  • Synthetic narration;

  • Virtual presenters;

  • Creative effects; and

  • Clearly fictional, artistic, or illustrative content.

AFTV will seek to avoid using realistic synthetic media to deceptively represent that a real person said, did, wore, endorsed, designed, or attended something when they did not.

AFTV may use a person’s voice, likeness, performance, or digital replica when it has an appropriate permission, license, contractual right, legal right, or legitimate editorial basis.

Materially synthetic depictions of identifiable people, real events, or public-interest matters may be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to avoid deception.

Artistic, satirical, fictional, historical, educational, or critical uses may be labeled in a manner appropriate to the context and without unnecessarily interfering with the creative presentation.

9. Virtual models and fictional people

AFTV may use virtual models, avatars, digital humans, fictional characters, or synthetic presenters.

Such figures may be:

  • Entirely fictional;

  • Based on licensed assets;

  • Created from multiple sources;

  • Performed or controlled by a person;

  • Generated through an AI service; or

  • Produced through a combination of technologies.

AFTV may identify a virtual or synthetic person where the presentation could otherwise reasonably cause viewers to believe that the figure is an actual person participating in a real event or endorsement.

Unless clearly stated otherwise, a synthetic person should not be understood as:

  • A real model;

  • An actual employee or representative;

  • A verified eyewitness;

  • A real customer;

  • A licensed professional;

  • A person providing an authentic testimonial; or

  • Evidence of an actual fashion show, collection, campaign, or event.

10. Disclosure approach

AFTV uses a context-based approach to AI disclosures. Disclosure may depend on:

  • Whether content is substantially generated or materially altered;

  • Whether it resembles a real person, place, object, or event;

  • Whether audiences could reasonably mistake it for authentic evidence;

  • Whether the content addresses a matter of public interest;

  • Whether a real person’s voice, likeness, or performance is simulated;

  • Whether the AI use affects the meaning of the content;

  • Whether the content is clearly artistic, fictional, satirical, or illustrative;

  • The amount of meaningful human review and editorial control;

  • Applicable legal or platform requirements; and

  • Practical limitations of the publishing format.

Disclosures may appear:

  • On the content;

  • In a caption;

  • Near an image or video;

  • In an article note;

  • In credits or methodology;

  • In metadata;

  • On a linked information page; or

  • Through another reasonably clear method.

The wording, placement, and format may vary. AFTV does not guarantee that every platform, syndication partner, embedded player, screenshot, repost, search result, or social-media service will preserve the original label, caption, metadata, watermark, or disclosure.

The absence of an AI label does not guarantee that no automated or AI-assisted technology was involved. A label indicates only what it states and should not be interpreted as a complete technical history of the content.

11. Accuracy and verification

AI systems can generate convincing but incorrect information. AFTV may use measures proportionate to the content’s risk, including:

  • Reviewing original recordings or documents;

  • Consulting primary or authoritative sources;

  • Checking names, quotations, and dates;

  • Comparing multiple sources;

  • Reviewing translations and captions;

  • Seeking subject-matter input;

  • Checking whether an image or recording is synthetic;

  • Preserving source or production records; and

  • Correcting or withdrawing content when appropriate.

No review process can guarantee that all errors, bias, manipulation, or undisclosed AI involvement will be detected.

AFTV does not warrant that an AI-detection tool can reliably determine whether content was created or altered using AI. Detection results may be treated as one signal rather than conclusive proof.

12. Intellectual property and commercial use

AI output may raise unsettled or fact-specific questions involving copyright, trademark, trade dress, publicity rights, ownership, licensing, and similarity to existing works.

Where reasonably appropriate, AFTV may consider:

  • The terms of the AI service;

  • Available commercial-use rights;

  • The origin of source material supplied by AFTV;

  • Required permissions or releases;

  • Similarity to identifiable works, products, designs, or people;

  • Whether a trademark or brand could be misrepresented;

  • Whether human creative contributions should be documented; and

  • Whether content should be modified, licensed, attributed, or withheld.

AFTV does not guarantee that AI-generated output is unique, copyrightable, non-infringing, or free from third-party claims.

The publication of AI-assisted content does not waive AFTV’s rights in the human-created selection, arrangement, editing, commentary, branding, or other protectable elements of the work.

13. Privacy, confidential information, and personal data

AFTV may use third-party AI services that process information under their own contracts, privacy policies, retention settings, and technical practices.

Personnel and contributors should avoid entering confidential information, unpublished sensitive material, passwords, financial information, private source information, or unnecessary personal data into an AI service that has not been approved for that purpose.

Where personal information is processed through AI in connection with the website or AFTV’s business operations, the processing is also subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Visitors should not submit confidential, proprietary, or highly sensitive information through a general AFTV form, chatbot, or communication channel unless AFTV specifically requests it through an appropriate process.

14. Fairness, bias, and representation

AI systems may reflect or amplify limitations and biases found in training data, design choices, prompts, or human review.

Where reasonably appropriate, AFTV may consider whether AI-generated or AI-assisted content:

  • Reinforces harmful stereotypes;

  • Inaccurately represents a culture or community;

  • Creates discriminatory or demeaning imagery;

  • Distorts skin tone, body characteristics, age, disability, or identity;

  • Falsely associates a person or group with conduct or beliefs;

  • Misrepresents historical or cultural material; or

  • Creates an unjustified appearance of authenticity or authority.

AFTV may edit, contextualize, decline, or remove material that presents an unacceptable risk of harm. This does not guarantee that all bias or objectionable content will be identified.

15. Health, financial, legal, and other consequential subjects

AFTV may use AI-assisted tools in connection with content discussing health, wellness, beauty procedures, medications, financial matters, business, law, sustainability, safety, or other consequential subjects.

AI output will not be treated as individualized professional advice. Where appropriate, AFTV may use additional review, sourcing, disclaimers, or limitations.

Website content remains subject to the professional-advice disclaimers in AFTV’s Terms and Conditions.

AFTV does not intend to use AI through the public website to make legally significant decisions concerning employment, credit, housing, insurance, healthcare, education, or access to essential services.

16. Advertising, sponsorships, and commercial content

AI may be used in advertisements, sponsored content, branded content, affiliate material, marketing, or campaign production.

AFTV may disclose a commercial relationship where required, regardless of whether AI was involved.

Advertisers, agencies, contributors, and commercial partners are responsible for ensuring that material supplied to AFTV:

  • Is accurate and not misleading;

  • Has appropriate rights and permissions;

  • Includes required advertising disclosures;

  • Does not contain unauthorized digital replicas;

  • Complies with applicable law and platform requirements; and

  • Discloses material AI use to AFTV when it may affect publication, rights, or audience understanding.

AFTV may reject, edit, label, suspend, or remove commercial material at its discretion. Review or publication by AFTV does not relieve the advertiser or supplier of responsibility for its claims or content.

17. Contributors and third party materials

Employees, freelancers, agencies, photographers, filmmakers, designers, contributors, and other suppliers may use AI only in a manner consistent with their agreements, AFTV instructions, and applicable law.

They may be required to:

  • Disclose material AI use to AFTV;

  • Identify the tool or method used;

  • Retain relevant source or permission records;

  • Verify factual claims;

  • Obtain necessary licenses and releases;

  • Avoid unauthorized confidential information;

  • Confirm that submitted content may be used commercially; and

  • Cooperate with corrections, disclosures, or rights inquiries.

AFTV may rely on representations made by contributors and suppliers. AFTV cannot guarantee that every third party will fully disclose all AI involvement or that every undisclosed use will be detected.

AFTV may update, relabel, restrict, or remove third-party content if new information becomes available.

18. User submissions and communications

AFTV may use automated or AI-assisted systems to sort, summarize, moderate, route, translate, or respond to inquiries and submissions.

A person submitting material remains responsible for its accuracy, legality, and compliance with AFTV’s Terms and Conditions.

Submitting material does not obligate AFTV to review, publish, preserve, compensate, or respond to it.

Do not submit confidential creative concepts, trade secrets, private source material, or sensitive personal information unless AFTV has agreed in writing to receive it through an appropriate process.

19. Recommendations, analytics, moderation, and security

AFTV may use algorithms or AI to:

  • Recommend articles or videos;

  • Rank or organize content;

  • Analyze audience activity;

  • Measure campaign performance;

  • Detect spam or abusive behavior;

  • Protect accounts and website systems;

  • Moderate submissions; or

  • Assist with operational decisions.

Recommendations and rankings may be influenced by recency, relevance, popularity, context, technical information, editorial judgment, or other signals. They do not necessarily reflect an endorsement or a complete representation of available content.

Automated systems may produce false positives, false negatives, or unexpected results. AFTV may modify or override automated outcomes at its discretion.

20. Content provenance and technical labels

AFTV may use metadata, content credentials, watermarks, production records, or other provenance technologies when reasonably available and appropriate.

These measures may be removed, altered, unsupported, or lost when content is resized, downloaded, edited, syndicated, embedded, reposted, or processed by another platform.

AFTV does not guarantee that provenance information will be available, complete, interoperable, permanent, or independently verifiable.

21. Corrections and concerns

If you believe AFTV content contains:

  • An undisclosed synthetic depiction;

  • An unauthorized use of a voice or likeness;

  • A material factual error introduced through AI;

  • An intellectual-property concern;

  • A misleading AI disclosure; or

  • Another significant AI-related issue,

22. Limitations

AI is evolving, and its outputs and internal processes may not be fully explainable, predictable, accurate, or reproducible.

AFTV does not guarantee that:

  • AI-assisted content will be error-free;

  • Every AI use will be detected or disclosed;

  • AI-generated content will be unique or legally protectable;
