The AFTV Gossip File: NYFW, Beauty News & Viral Style, Vol. 3

Beauty news and NYFW 2026 highlights, from Lady Gaga's viral one-minute routine and MAC's campaign to Liris Crosse, Celine x Reebok and GapBag.

AFTV Gossip File • Vol. 3 • September 5-11, 2026

Seven days. Seven stories. One runaway beauty reel.

Lady Gaga’s one-minute routine took the measurable social crown this week. After that, clean engagement numbers thin out, so the order shifts to reporting strength, timing and how much each story changed the room.

This is a gossip file, not a rumor mill. Launch details come from the brands, policy details come from the CFDA, and the celebrity quotes trace back to the posts or interviews that started the conversation.

How this list is ranked: direct social signal where it was visible, then source quality and recency. We did not invent a popularity score for stories that did not publish one.

Lady Gaga Made a One-Minute Beauty Reel Feel Like an Event

Conversation signal: 1 million likes and 20,000 comments on Lady Gaga’s Instagram reel at capture.

Lady Gaga posted a reel with a wonderfully efficient caption: “My holy trinity in 1 min.” The routine was concealer, contour and lip liner, but the pink mask she peeled off at the start got its own round of attention. Page Six identified it as Medicube’s PDRN Pink Collagen Gel Mask and noted that its shopping coverage may earn affiliate commission.

The useful part is the format. One minute, a face people recognize, and enough detail for viewers to pause, zoom and debate every step. That is beauty content built for replay.

AFTV takeGaga did not need a twelve-step bathroom shelf or a lecture. Three products, one mask reveal, one million likes. Efficient glamour wins.

Liris Crosse Turned a Bad Runway Moment Into Five New Bookings

People reported on September 9 that model Liris Crosse had booked five shows for New York Fashion Week after speaking publicly about the garment she was asked to wear on Project Runway. The earlier controversy centered on an unconventional-materials look made with wires and a used trash bag, an experience Crosse said left her spirit broken.

The follow-up matters more than another outrage recap. The Baltimore Banner separately reported that Crosse would walk for Christian Siriano and other designers. The fashion industry is very good at turning discomfort into a forty-eight-hour discourse cycle. This time, the person at the center of it got work.

AFTV takeAccountability is lovely. A full call sheet is better.

New York Fashion Week’s Fur Ban Is Now the Actual Rule

The CFDA announced its fur-free policy in December 2025, but this is the week it became operational. Collections on the Official NYFW Schedule can no longer include farmed or trapped fur from animals killed for their pelts. The policy has a narrow exemption for fur obtained by Indigenous communities through traditional subsistence hunting.

The official spring-summer 2027 schedule opened September 10 and listed 70 shows and presentations. That makes the change more than a symbolic statement tucked into a press release. Every designer on that calendar had to plan around it.

AFTV takeFashion loves a manifesto. A materials rule with a date and a defined scope is much harder to wriggle around.

MAC Went From “I” to “We” and Put Doja Cat in the Group Chat

Conversation signal: 3,200 likes and 381 comments on Nicola Formichetti’s campaign post at capture.

MAC’s new “We All Wear MAC” campaign is the colorful sequel to last year’s black-and-white “I Only Wear MAC.” The cast includes Doja Cat, Olandria, Rhea Raj, Violet Chachki, Masai Russell and several other faces from music, sport, fashion and television.

The campaign supports the Studio Radiance Skin Tint Stick and, in some markets, the Studio Radiance Serum-Powered Cushion Foundation. Cosmetics Business reported that the stick comes in 20 shades and carries MAC’s claim that 73 percent of the formula is made up of skin-care ingredients.

The comments did what cast-heavy beauty campaigns want them to do: fans arrived for their person, then stayed to argue about who owned the frame.

This campaign is about belonging.Nicola Formichetti, MAC Global Creative Director

AFTV take“Community” is easy copy. Casting Doja, Olandria and Violet Chachki in the same beauty universe gives the word some actual voltage.

Celine and Reebok Put a $750 Spin on an Aerobics Classic

The Reebok Freestyle Lo arrived in 1982 as a fitness shoe made for women. Celine has now revised it in eight colors, added co-branding and priced the collaboration at $750, according to Sneaker News at launch. The collection went on sale September 10 through Celine, Reebok and selected stores.

Celine’s copy calls the pairing “Paris street, American movement.” Fair enough. The more interesting tension is between a mass-market gym classic and a luxury price that would have made the original aerobics class stop mid-grapevine.

AFTV takeThe shoe is low. The price is not. That contrast is probably half the campaign.

Gap Turned Its Jeans Pocket Into a Handbag Strategy

Gap’s first dedicated GapBag collection launched online September 8 under accessories director Reed Krakoff. Five main silhouettes pull details from the brand’s archive, including denim pockets, hoodie fabric and the familiar arch logo.

The core assortment ran from $29.95 to $148 in Gap’s announcement, while a limited patchwork denim Five-Pocket Tote reached $498. That range is doing two jobs at once: accessible add-on at the bottom, collector bait at the top. Harper’s Bazaar called the line a new favorite tote. The internet will decide whether “jeans, but bag” has legs.

AFTV takeA denim tote with belt loops is either a gimmick or a charm-holder’s dream. Probably both.

Gwyneth Paltrow Finally Explained the Candle Joke That Would Not Die

On the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, Gwyneth Paltrow revisited the origin of Goop’s “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle. She said the name began as a joke while she and perfumer Douglas Little were working through earthy fragrance notes. Little took the line seriously enough to make the candle, and the rest became six years of headlines.

Paltrow also said Goop stopped selling it because the joke distracted people from the company’s other work. Podcast host Benny Blanco said he later paid $600 to a reseller. Paltrow floated making it again, but that was a quip, not a relaunch announcement.

AFTV takeThe candle was discontinued. The headline, apparently, has an unlimited burn time.

What We’re Watching Next

NYFW runs beyond this reporting window, so the next file has obvious homework: which runway images escape the industry bubble, whether the fur rule prompts any public friction, and which front-row look becomes a full-blown reference point instead of a twenty-four-hour carousel.

On the beauty side, the more interesting question is whether MAC’s collective casting idea outlives the campaign launch and whether Gaga’s quick routine sends a real wave of copycat posts through the week ahead.
